Professional Background and Education

  • In July 1990, Ms. Xiaohong (Dawn) Zhang earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language and Literature from Peking University. From 1990 to 2000, she worked as an interpreter, researcher, and polygraph examiner for the Ministry of Public Security of China.
  • Ms. Zhang completed her foundational American-based polygraph training at the Argenbright International Institute of Polygraph in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by a one-year internship with the Michigan State Police in Lansing, Michigan.
  • Between December 2000 and 2003, Ms. Zhang instructed and administered polygraph examinations in China, working in conjunction with Beijing TongFang ShenHuo United Science and Technologies Development Co. and the Chinese Academy of Sciences Automation Institute.
  • In 2003, Ms. Zhang relocated to South Florida, where she continues to practice as a polygraph examiner. Today, as a co-owner of Slattery Associates Inc., she has administered more than 12-thousand polygraph examinations in both the English and Chinese languages.

Professional Activities and Lectures

  • In addition to delivering numerous lectures at professional and scientific seminars across China, Ms. Zhang served as a speaker on an international expert panel at the 44th American Polygraph Association Seminar in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (September 2010).
  • In May 2025, Ms. Zhang delivered her latest presentation, “Theory and Interpretation of Physiological Data for Private and Government Examiners,” at the Beijing TongFang ShenHuo Training Seminar and Workshop in Guiyang, China.

Professional Organizations and Affiliations

  • Ms. Zhang is a member of several professional organizations, including the American, Florida, and European Polygraph Associations. Ms. Zhang is also an Associate member of the International Organization of Psychophysiology, and a member of the Australasian Society for psychophysiology.
